Hambantota International Port Group Private Limited (HIPG), a leading public-private maritime partnership, invites qualified candidates to join their Engineering and Technology Management Department as a Marine Engineer. This role plays a critical part in maintaining safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations of the company’s vessel fleet.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections and oversee vessel repairs and maintenance
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks
• Manage spare parts inventory to ensure uninterrupted vessel operations
• Coordinate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and company safety standards

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering, or completion of a three-year Marine Engineering program from a recognized institution
• 3-5 years’ experience in ship repairs, maintenance, workshop operations, and sea-going experience on vessels with propulsion power between 2,000 kW and 3,000 kW
• Engine Room Artificer backgrounds and ex-Navy personnel are encouraged to apply
• Strong leadership skills to inspire and manage high performing teams
• Outgoing personality with excellent public relations skills with clients, external parties, and port authorities
• Excellent communication and writing skills in English
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and PowerPoint
• Candidates from Hambantota, Matara, Galle, Rathnapura, Monaragala districts, and southern regions are particularly encouraged
