Mitra AI is currently looking for a qualified and motivated Project Manager to join their team in Colombo. This full-time, on-site position requires expertise in Agile/Scrum methodology and experience in the banking sector, particularly with core banking systems and migrations.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and lead project-related meetings including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Resolve conflicts within project teams and provide coaching and guidance.
- Assist team members in task organization, presentation, prioritization, and decision making.
- Support the product owner in balancing product features with quality by providing necessary information.
- Continuously learn and share knowledge on project management and Scrum practices with stakeholders.
- Identify and remove project bottlenecks to improve team productivity.
- Analyze burn down charts daily to prevent task slippage.
- Manage customer expectations and minimize escalations effectively.
- Ensure adequate effort allocation for non-functional tasks, infrastructure, and defect fixes.
- Enforce Definition of Done (DOD) and Definition of Ready (DOR) for sprint stories.
- Manage change requests and feedback by appropriately updating and prioritizing the product backlog.
- Escalate customer concerns timely to Mitra AI leadership.
- Educate the team on product vision, roadmap, and main releases.
- Support product owner in maintaining the product backlog and user stories.
- Create monthly billing sheets and monitor daily time logs and weekly time entries.
- Review and compare project models against real-world outcomes.
- Act as a buffer to minimize external distractions and help team maintain focus.
- Manage team workload to prevent burnout.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Agile and Scrum frameworks.
- Ability to understand diverse business domain requirements and technical software engineering concepts.
- Excellent communication skills across various project stakeholders.
- Experience in the banking and finance sector.
- Familiarity with core banking system implementations and migrations.
- Bachelor’s degree in computing, IT, or business management.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar project management role.
- Professional certifications such as PMP or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) are preferred.
- At least 2 years of project management experience within the banking domain.
