People’s Bank hiring Civil Engineer – Apply Now
People’s Bank, one of Sri Lanka’s leading banks with a strong reputation for innovation and professionalism, is inviting applications for the position of Civil Engineer within its Engineering Services Department. This role supports ongoing and new construction, renovation projects, and maintenance of bank premises.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Managing new construction, renovations, building extensions, interior furniture, and exterior landscaping projects.
- Preparing designs, Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and cost estimates, followed by calling tenders.
- Evaluating tenders and recommending contracts for approval by the Head of Building Engineering Services.
- Supervising construction progress to ensure quality, standards, and timelines are met.
- Measuring completed work and recommending payments.
- Assisting Regional Managers with building maintenance.
- Reviewing tender documents, engineer estimates, and evaluation reports related to major construction and renovation projects.
- Participating in technical evaluation and procurement committees.
- Monitoring construction progress and checking progress bills.
- Performing other relevant official duties assigned by the Bank.
- Adhering strictly to Bank’s rules and regulations.
Qualifications
- Sri Lankan citizenship is mandatory.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from a UGC-recognized university or institute.
Experience and Skills
- At least 5 years of experience in building project design and construction.
- Sound knowledge of civil engineering specifications, contract conditions, and standard measurement methods.
- Strong project planning and progress monitoring capabilities.
- Proficient in computer software related to drafting, project management, and procurement.
- Understanding of procurement processes for works and consultancy services.
- Leadership, planning, coordination, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to coordinate with various banking and non-banking stakeholders.
Additional Requirements
- Preferably below 45 years of age as of the closing date.
- Willingness to work beyond regular hours and travel to outstation construction sites for inspections.
Employment Details
- Contract basis appointment, equivalent to Manager grade (3-l) in the bank.
- Annual performance evaluations.
