Seylan Bank, one of the most progressive banks in Sri Lanka, is inviting applications for the position of Pawning Officer based in the Eastern Province (Pottuvil). Job Responsibilities
- Assaying pawned articles using Densimeter or Touchstone while minimizing risks and losses to the bank.
- Handling all pawning redemptions, interest payments, and part payments in the pawning system.
- Monitoring pawning Non Performing Advances (NPA), overdue, and recovery management.
- Ensuring overdue remains less than 1% and NPA less than 0.5% of the base at all times.
- Balancing General Ledger accounts related to pawning daily.
- Keeping pawning in/out registers balanced daily and at month end.
- Managing pawning auctions and related functions promptly and efficiently.
- Ensuring monthly physical verification of all pawned articles through independent officers as per guidelines.
- Initiating and participating in branch promotional activities to enhance pawning growth and targets.
- Achieving assigned targets and supporting branch efforts in expanding the advances portfolio.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of General Circulars (GCLs) and Special Instruction Memos (SIMS) related to pawning and gold loans.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years banking experience, with at least 3 years in pawning.
- Full or partial banking qualification preferred.
- Excellent communication, strong analytical, and interpersonal skills.
