Seylan Bank is inviting applications for the role of Pawning Officer at the Yakkala branch. This role requires a competent professional with banking experience in pawning. Candidates will engage in multiple responsibilities centered around pawning operations and portfolio management.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assaying pawned articles using Densimeter / Touchstone while minimizing risk to the Bank.
  • Managing pawning redemptions, interest payments, and part payments in the system.
  • Monitoring Non Performing Advances (NPA) and overdue pawning loans to ensure NPA remains below 0.5% and overdue under 1%.
  • Balancing all General Ledger accounts related to pawning daily.
  • Maintaining the pawning in/out register on a daily and monthly basis.
  • Conducting pawning auctions and related administrative functions efficiently as per circular instructions.
  • Ensuring monthly physical verification of all pawned articles by an independent officer as per guidelines.
  • Participating in branch promotional activities to enhance pawning growth and meet targets.
  • Familiarizing with General Circulars (GCLs) and Special Instruction Memos (SIMS) related to pawning and gold loans.
  • Supporting branch efforts to achieve the advances portfolio growth.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of banking experience, including at least 3 years in pawning.
  • Full or part qualification in banking preferred.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and handle special projects supporting the Pawning Unit.
