The Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) invites applications for the position of Technical Officer in the Mechanical Workshop at the Faculty of Engineering. This role focuses on maintaining a safe and efficient lab environment, supporting students and staff, and handling workshop machinery and equipment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe working environment in the lab.
  • Ensure all safety gear, signage, and first-aid equipment are in place and functional.
  • Ensure proper functioning of all lab equipment, tools, and machinery.
  • Maintain an updated inventory of tools and consumables.
  • Manage equipment procurement when necessary.
  • Provide technical support to students, researchers, and staff for their projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • NVQ5 level or above qualification in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in operating workshop machinery, including lathes, milling, drilling, grinding, welding (arc/gas/TIG/MIG).
  • Experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of tools and equipment.
  • Skilled in interpreting Engineering drawings and CAD software.
  • Skillful in mechanical fabrications and assembly, with basic knowledge of electrical systems and circuits.
  • Knowledge of CNC machines and 3D printers is an added advantage.
