The Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology (Pvt) Ltd (SLINTEC) is the nation’s leading nanotechnology and advanced technology research institute. Established as a pioneering Private-Public Partnership with equal shares held by the Government and private sector, SLINTEC is now hiring a Chief Executive Officer to lead the institute to its next phase of scientific excellence and sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide visionary and strategic leadership to drive overall institutional growth and enhance regional and international positioning.
• Lead a sustainable public-private partnership model, generating impactful research projects for both private industry and state sector organizations.
• Develop and implement the business plan in close collaboration with the Board of Directors and staff.
• Build a pipeline of research and commercialization projects aligning with national priorities per the Ministry of Science & Technology’s National Research and Development Policy.
• Seek and secure funding for priority research projects by working with government institutions like the National Science Foundation and multilateral donors.
• Ensure research and development activities anticipate and align with local scientific and industrial trends.
• Oversee financial management to maintain operational and financial sustainability.
• Attract, mentor, and inspire world-class researchers and leaders.
• Establish measurable performance goals, accountability, and a results-driven culture among staff.
• Forge and strengthen strategic research and innovation partnerships nationally and internationally.
• Create strategies to market SLINTEC’s capabilities to private and public sector organizations and multilateral agencies.

Candidate Profile

• Ph.D., M.Sc., or equivalent qualification in Science, Engineering, or related discipline from a globally recognized institution.
• Proven leadership experience in Science and Technology based industrial R&D, with at least 5 years in Senior Management or CEO roles.
• Strong background in technology portfolio management, intellectual property process management, and strategic planning.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
