Award-winning SriLankan IT team is seeking a dynamic individual to join as a Data Engineer.
The position focuses on Design, develop, modify, implement, and support Data Engineering components in all the layers of the Data Engineering stack whilst ensuring the integrity and stability of “data-driven” decision support systems 24X7.
Identify root cause for the most complex Data Engineering issues and develop practical, efficient, and permanent technical solutions with minimal supervision.
Liaise with the Database Administration (DBA) team, IT Security, and IT Quality Management teams to enforce and maintain industry best practices, policies, and procedures, and maintain quality of design documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and backend schedules, including ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, integrations, and daily jobs, to support enterprise data initiatives.
- Oversee backend data engineering using SQL and Oracle across the Data Platform.
- Complete given project-related tasks in a timely manner as assigned by Senior Data Engineer or BI & Analytics Manager with proper planning and successful delivery.
- Implement best practices for data ingestion, transformation, storage, and retrieval to ensure data quality and reliability, while contributing to the successful design of data architecture and database structures for new developments.
- With the direction and support of the Senior Data Engineer or BI & Analytics Manager, translate the functional requirements into a specification of functional processes, program modules, and data definitions.
- Work with database administrators to design and build databases and table structures using SQL or Oracle to support the functional processes. Document the specifications and design for code development, testing, and support.
- Plan, test, and deploy required Data Pipelines and Data Platforms as required by the Business Users, including Synapse development and report development using Power BI.
- Work with business users to prepare and document business objectives, functional requirements, data models and technical architecture that will meet an identified business need.
- Assist the IT Project Manager and business users in scoping small projects, make input to the project plan, and assist in signing off the systems requirements specifications. Providing value additions to the business scope.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree * in relevant field from a recognized University with minimum of 01 year post qualifying Relevant Experience (* Engineering, Computer Science, General Science with Mathematics, Management Information Systems, Applied Statistics)
OR
- Full professional qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 7 with 3 years post-qualifying experience in a relevant discipline.
- Age to be not more than 35 years as at 03rd August 2025 which is the closing date.
