People’s Bank, a leading financial institution in Sri Lanka with over six decades of excellence, is seeking a dynamic and talented professional to join as the Head of Research. This role is pivotal in guiding the Bank’s research initiatives, delivering strategic insights, and supporting executive decision-making through data-driven analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead high-quality research on macroeconomic trends, industry developments, customer behavior, competitor analysis, and regulatory impacts.
• Provide strategic planning support via data-driven insights and scenario analysis.
• Develop detailed market intelligence reports, economic reviews, and white papers for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with Product Development, Risk, Credit, Treasury, and Strategy teams to integrate research outputs into business operations.
• Monitor local and global economic indicators affecting the Bank’s operations.
• Mentor and guide a team of researchers to maintain high analytical standards and relevance.
• Represent People’s Bank in policy forums, conferences, and research meetings.
• Maintain strong relationships with academic institutions, think tanks, government bodies, and regulatory agencies to support ongoing research agendas.

Candidate Requirements

• Must be a Sri Lankan citizen.
• Ph.D. or Doctorate in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Business Administration, Management, or related fields recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka.
• Professional qualifications in Banking, Finance, or Economics are advantageous.
• Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience in economic/market research or strategic planning, preferably within the financial services industry.
• Proven leadership and team management experience.
• AI literacy with strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Sri Lankan and global economic environments and financial markets.
• Proficiency in research tools, data analytics software, business analytics, and statistical applications.
• Age preferably below 55 years as of the application closing date.

Additional Information

• Position is contract basis equivalent to Assistant General Manager grade, with annual performance evaluations.
• Attractive and negotiable remuneration package offered based on qualifications and experience.
• Selection by interview of shortlisted candidates.
